There are so many burger recipes out there, but this is definitely something different. The avocado and the fried pickled jalapeno bring contrasting flavors that can really balance the flavors of the burger.

Ingredients (serves 4)

350 g ground beef
100 g bacon, minced
1 onion, grated
2 tbsps Worcestershire sauce
2 tomatoes, sliced
1 large ripe avocado
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsps sour cream
1 calamansi
1 tsp cayenne pepper
½ cup pickled jalapeno slices
½ cup flour
1 egg, beaten
4 burger buns
Oil for frying
Salt and pepper

Directions

  1. To make the burgers, combine the first 4 ingredients and season with salt and pepper.  Form into patties and let stand.
  2. To make avocado dressing, combine and mash avocado, garlic, calamnsi juice, and sour cream.  Season with salt and pepper. Cool in ref.
  3. Cook burgers over high heat until cooked, about 2-3 minutes on each side.  
  4. Meanwhile, dip the jalapeno slices in the beaten egg and then dredge in the flour. Fry until golden brown.
  5. Assemble burger by adding a burger patty, tomato slices, avocado dressing and some of the fried jalapeno.
